I will NEVER stay at another Stay Alfred and will never recommend this property to anyone I care about.Discussing High Hopes, from the BBC programme The Film Programme, 30 August 2007 Sure, the location was great, but the surprise $100 cleaning fee added to the bill was the nail in the coffin. We twice woke up to the sounds of construction/power tools/hammering coming from the shared wall with the bar next door, once woke up to the smoke alarm going off before 6:00 am (the guys next door were laughing loud at whatever they accidentally burned), and once woke to the sounds of the housekeepers shouting at each other in conversation while they ran the vacuum next door. In the 4 nights that we stayed, I did not once wake up feeling rested. But if that's not enough to contend with, the remaining 3 walls are just as thin so we also got to enjoy our neighbor yelling at the football game on his TV, the maids having full blown conversations while vacuuming next door, cars and motorcycles driving past with excessively loud music, honking horns, and revving motors at all hours of the day, and the bonus power tools from the construction going on next door - there was scaffolding set up laterally right outside our window. Little did we know when we booked this room that we would share a common wall with a bar next door, playing loud music from 8:30 am until well past midnight each day. The complimentary earplugs on the night stand when we checked in for a 4 night stay were the first bad omen of things to come. If all you care about is being in the heart of Savannah's historic district and ridiculous levels of noise don't bother you, this might be the place for you. If you're younger with good hearing and like to sleep in past 8:00, this place is not for you. If you're disabled in any way and expect any form of accessibility, this place is not for you. Unless you're a retired rock musician, a former artillery battalion soldier, or otherwise completely deaf, this place is not for you! If you're an older person with limited mobility and don't like climbing stairs, this place is not for you.
